SERVE AT
GOLDEN HILLS

Thank you for your interest in serving with us! On this page you can find out what is required to serve at Golden Hills and a list of ministries that have opportunities to serve available. Once you know what ministry you would like to express interest in, let us know by filling out the form below (or under each ministry section) to begin the process. If you have a willingness to serve, but have no idea where to start, you can fill out the form below and someone from our team will assist you in figuring out what might be a good fit for you.

SERVING REQUIREMENTS

We believe that serving is an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love and be a part of His work in the church and community. To ensure a safe and effective ministry, we have a few requirements for all volunteers, with additional steps for those serving in youth ministries.

Minimum Requirements for Serving Anywhere

These basic requirements apply to all volunteers, regardless of ministry area:

We are committed to gospel-driven ministry, grounded in God’s Word, proclaiming the gospel through both word and action. With love and humility, we use our gifts and resources to serve others for God’s glory.

This helps us get to know you, match you to the right ministry, and ensure that every volunteer understands the expectations and mission of Golden Hills Community Church.

As part of the application process, we ask for references who can speak to your character and suitability for the role. This helps us to build a team of reliable volunteers who reflect Christ's character in their service.

One of the ways we maintain a safe and trustworthy environment is by requiring all volunteers to complete a background check and sign a personal history disclosure form. See FAQ below for more details.

Click here to view the personal history disclosure form.

Before serving, you’ll meet with a ministry leader for a brief conversation. This helps us get to know you, hear your heart for ministry, and ensure the role is a good fit.

Some roles require training to ensure clarity and preparedness. This helps you serve confidently and effectively.

Additional Requirements for Serving with Kids/Youth

Because of the unique responsibility of working with children and students, we follow California laws and best practices to provide a safe and nurturing environment. These requirements are in addition to the general serving requirements listed above.

California law requires background checks for those working with minors. This step helps ensure that children and youth are in safe and trusted hands.

Anyone working directly with minors in a church setting is considered a mandated reporter and must complete training on recognizing and reporting abuse. This protects children and ensures we comply with state laws.

To protect both children and volunteers, we require that all interactions happen in pairs or groups whenever possible. This reduces risk, prevents misunderstandings, and aligns with best safety practices.

Volunteers must commit to appropriate, Christ-centered behavior when serving with youth. This includes guidelines on communication, physical boundaries, and expectations for interactions.

Why These Requirements Matter

Serving is an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love and care for others. These requirements help ensure that we serve with integrity, protect those in our care, and create a safe and welcoming environment.

For those working with youth, additional safeguards are in place to provide accountability and protection, fostering a space where children can learn and grow in a secure and caring environment. Our aim is to serve faithfully, uphold trust, and do ministry in a way that honors God and cares well for others.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

Kids Ministry

In Kids Ministry at Golden Hills Community Church, we have an important task in coming alongside parents to teach the kids in our church to know, love, and obey Jesus Christ. We have an amazing opportunity in Kids Ministry to help in developing our kids into committed followers of Jesus. What an awesome gift! Our main areas of ministry in Kids Ministry are Sunday Mornings, Wednesday nights at Awana, and Vacation Bible School.

If you are looking for a place to serve and you love the Lord and kids and have been regularly attending GHCC for at least 6 months, we have some opportunities for you to serve!

Sunday School:
Sunday School is a place for kids to experience age-appropriate biblical teaching and engaging activities. For both the 8:30 and 10:30 services, we need leaders! We are looking for team members to help in our nursery through 5th grade Sunday School classes as regular leaders and as subs. Our biggest need in this area is in our 3s-1st grade classes right now, but we need leaders in all areas to be able to minister to all the kids in our church.

Special Needs Ministry:
During the 10:30 service, we have a need for Special Needs Buddies to help our special needs children participate in our classes for up to 5th grade. These buddies will come alongside our special needs kids and help them to get to know other kids in Sunday School, while being able to participate in the activities and lessons. We are currently looking for 3-4 more leaders to serve in this ministry.

Vacation Bible School:
VBS is an annual week-long event held each summer for kids in our community to learn about the gospel through creative mediums. These include live skits, singing songs, making crafts, eating snacks, and enjoying recreation with friends. VBS 2026 is June 22-26. We will open up signups for VBS leaders in January 2026 for VBS 2026

Awana:
Awana is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 and stands for “Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed.” It is a Christ-centered program designed to help parents in the spiritual development of their children. Awana combines fun and exciting weekly meetings with solid biblical instruction with a particular focus on studying and memorizing God’s word. The Gospel is presented throughout the teaching and curriculum. We offer Awana to 3-year-olds through 5th graders and meet on Wednesday nights throughout the school year. We are looking for many new leaders to serve at Awana for the next school year.

Christians in Action
These individuals have specialized backgrounds that God uses to build up the church. Some work includes building Holiday sets, basic plumbing, installing televisions, moving outlets, running electrical, and many more.
