Join us for the Golden Hills Art Exhibition—featuring visual art, music, poetry, culinary art, lunch, an art activity, and workshops.

Whether you create, perform, or simply appreciate the arts, come take part in a day dedicated to glorifying God through beauty and imagination! Join us on your own or bring friends and family.

Morning Art Exhibition (10:00am-12:15pm)

Enjoy original visual art, culinary art, music, and poetry by Golden Hills artists, all inspired by the book of Ecclesiastes and its wisdom on life, eternity, and living wisely before God.

Lunch & Art Activity (12:15-1:30pm)—Register by 9/13

Join us outside on the plaza after the exhibition for a delicious bag lunch and spend time together in community while participating in a creative art activity.

Afternoon Workshop (1:30-3:30pm)

Sign up for a workshop, whether you enjoy creating and want to learn from professionals in their craft, or you’re curious about why art is important!

Learn how to approach songwriting with the local church in mind. Brian Joksch will share practical guidance for writing songs that communicate biblical truth, serve the church, and help people worship God through singing.

This visual art workshop will cover value and composition techniques and tips that apply to various mediums. Learn together with other artists in a hands-on environment from professional artist and teacher, Keta Greig. Supplies for participating in the workshop will be provided.

Modern Christians have rightly emphasized truth and goodness, yet beauty has often been neglected or reduced to utility. The Bible teaches that God Himself is beautiful and that His creation reflects His splendor, majesty, and glory. This session will explore humanity’s calling to cultivate beauty as image-bearers in light of the Bible’s teaching on aesthetics, and an invitation to recover a distinctly Christian vision for beauty and the aesthetic virtues that flow from it.

WORKSHOP LEADERS

Brian Joksch has written personal and congregational songs for the church. His music and writing flow from a desire to express emotions, teach, serve the local church, and create songs that help people draw near to and respond to God. Whether personal or written for congregational worship, Brian’s heart is to point people to Jesus and use creativity to glorify God.

Keta Greig is an artist for this era. Her art celebrates the beauty of life in her signature style of rich vibrant colors, textures and layers of movement.  She graduated with honors from UCLA and has taught all levels from elementary to college age.

She is currently an art instructor for the City of Brentwood, Diablo Valley College, Liberty Adult Education and has been an instructor at Delta Gallery, Brentwood.  Her artwork has been displayed at various exhibits throughout Contra Costa County, at the Delta Gallery, Old Town Art Gallery, Julia O’Reilly Gallery, Blackhawk Gallery in Danville, The Oakley Library, and the City of Brentwood Public Arts Wall.

She was commissioned by Campos Family Vineyard for their Artist Series wine labels and asked to paint and display her artwork at various conferences in California and Washington, DC.

She has been pursuing her passion for 25 years and lives by her mission statement: “Unleashing beauty and  releasing creativity.”

Phil serves as the Senior Pastor of Golden Hills Community Church, where he is responsible for the preaching ministry and provides oversight for the church’s teaching ministry. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education with a minor in Biblical Studies and a Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics from Biola University, as well as a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary.

Phil and his wife, Heather, live in Antioch, California. They are the proud parents of two college-aged children, Elijah and Savannah, who are home whenever they can be, and they share their home with two dogs—a Cockapoo named Bentley and a Bernedoodle named June. An avid learner and lifelong student of God’s Word, Phil also enjoys sports and loves spending time with family and friends.

Art Exhibition ticket sales end September 20th, and tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Early bird tickets purchased by September 13th include the option to add a free lunch. The Art Collection book, a printed collection of the exhibited artwork, is also available for pre-order through September 13th.

Note: This event was previously promoted to include an evening concert featuring Matt Papa. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, Matt has had to cancel his tour, including his scheduled concert at Golden Hills. The Art Exhibition and workshops will still take place, and we look forward to gathering with you.
